Mark is a a Professional Triathlete and Coach residing in Boulder, CO.  2008 will be his first year racing amongst the elite ranks.  Widely known as one of the fastest fish in Multisport, Mark primarily races the 70.3 distance but also will be racing at Ironman Canada with hopes of getting back to Kona as a pro. Friends, family and sponsors can follow Mark throughout the racing season through this website and the blog. Pictures, race reports, and coaching advice will be updated as the season unfolds. Leadership

MVR is headed by Mark VanAkkeren, an elite-level triathlon coach and triathlete. His most recent fame came from leading the amateur race at the 2007 Ironman World Championships in Kona for over 125 miles -- having posted the fastest overall swim split of the day.
